Some of the greatest romance stories start with love at first sight.

Unfortunately it would take a while for the star's affection to be reciprocated, as he came upon the actress when she was made a guest appearance on hit 70s sitcom The Brady Bunch.

Turner And Hooch star Tom, 59, said: 'I was actually at a friend of mine's house when it aired and I remember thinking 'that girl's cute,

Tom, who was speaking at the premiere of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, which he co-produced with his wife, first saw her when she guest-starred as a cheerleader on popular show.

Philadelphia favourite Tom finally became romantically entangled with his crush, who is also 59, many years later in 1985.

But Rita could not resist spilling the beans on how they do not always see eye-to-eye.

The actress told People that, while they rarely quarrel, it occurs 'usually when driving.'

Forrest Gump star Tom added; 'That is hilarious. She's actually telling you the truth right now.

'I am driving, what I always say is, "Just don't you worry your pretty little head. All you have to do is sit there and ride and I will decide how to get there."'

Rita is Tom's second wife. He was married to actress Samantha Lewes from 1978 until they divorced in 1987, and they had son Colin, 38, and 33-year-old daughter Elizabeth together.
