Emma Watson proved that she is willing to do almost anything to get the word out about gender equality.

And that includes a very awkward attempt at beatboxing in time for Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda as he rapped about feminism for International Women's Day.

Launching into a somewhat cringeworthy effort, the 25-year-old British actress was left mortified with embarrassment afterwards, despite giving it her all.

Indeed, the bashful Watson turned red following the brief performance, describing herself as 'literally the color of a tomato'.

The duo began with some fun banter as Lin-Manuel, 36, introduced Emma as a 'great beatboxer'.

'He's lying,' the actress whispered to the camera as she explained she had never tried it before.

But the rapper insisted that he was 'happy to freestyle if you beat box' in order to promote awareness about gender equality.

'English school kids,' Emma said humorously, 'that's what we do all the time... beat box.'

The duo then explained that the video was for the He For She programme on International Women's Day, which took place on March 8.

After their debut musical collaboration, the pair then attempted to sort the Hamilton characters into Hogwarts houses.

'Because obviously I’m Hermione, I had to plan this out,' said Watson. 'I have it on paper.'

Watson then put Alexander Hamilton into Gryffindor, but Miranda then revealed that when he asked Daniel Radcliffe the same question he put the US politican into Ravenclaw.

'I'm going to have to call him about this,' said Watson.

Miranda is having quite the week.

On Monday, the 'Hamilton' creator, writer and star freestyle rapped with President Obama at the White House, setting social media alight.
