Easy Fabric Pocket Board

I’ve been looking for different ways to organize my office, which I’ve been working hard to de-clutter. I came across a frame that was similar to this, except it was smaller and made with burlap. I wanted something prettier and large enough to hang on my wall. I’m happy with how it turned out and so is Annabel – she told me she wants it! Good thing I have leftover fabric to make another one!

Bulletin board (mine is 11-inches by 17-inches)
Three or four coordinating fabrics
Staple gun
Glue gun
Ruler
Scissors
Paper the same size as the bulletin board (optional)

First, I popped the bulletin board out of the frame and set the frame aside.

Next, I laid out my fabric and decided I wanted four pockets. After playing with the placement of the fabric on the board, I cut four strips that were 11-inches tall by 19-inches wide. I then folded the fabric in half so they were 5.5-inches tall by 19-inches wide, and ironed the fold so it would be flat. I wrapped the fabric around the bulletin board (the fold should be at the top) and used the staple gun to secure one side to the back of the board.

I flipped the board back around, then glued the bottom edge of the fabric to the board.

Before I stapled the other side, I gently pulled the fabric back from the board to make sure it wasn’t too snug. Then I securely stapled the other end of the fabric to the back of the bulletin board.

I repeated these steps for the remaining three pockets.

After all of my pockets were attached, I glued butcher paper to the back of the bulletin board to cover up the staples and to help the board lay flat against the wall.

I then popped the frame back onto the bulletin board. I used my hot glue gun to make sure it was secure.

I think it turned out cute! I can see why Annabel wants it.

I think I’ll be keeping this one for my office, but I’ll definitely make a new one for Annabel, maybe with some My Little Pony fabric.
