She is gearing up for her milestone 40th birthday on Tuesday. 

And Reese Witherspoon did not view her upcoming celebrations as an excuse to slack on her workouts.

With mom Betty in town, the Legally Blonde star gathered her family for a day of hiking and dog walking in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The mother-of-three was modestly dressed in a grey T-shirt, which she wore with a pair of cropped leggings and multi-coloured trainers. 

Tied around her waist was a black hoodie, prepping her should a cool, California breeze swing by.

The actress completed her look with pair of mirrored shades and a trucker hat.

The beautiful blonde, appearing to be on her way to an undisclosed location, shared a stunning selfie, clad in a sparkly shirt.

Reese also share a hilarious video, courtesy of her Snapchat account, SnapsByReese. 

In the clip, the actress, joined by Betty in a backseat of a vehicle, asks her mother if she's 'gonna get crazy on the dance floor.'

Her mom, lips pursed as she shook her head up and down in agreement, simply answering, 'crazy.'

Reese then echoes her mom's statement, bobbing her side-to-side  while yelling, 'crazzzzzzy!'
