PREVENTING ASTHMA: SOME NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS – AIR POLLUTANTS, MOULDS IN FOOD AND BREASTFEEDING
Posted: under Asthma.
Air Pollutants. Air pollutants, particularly vehicular, damage respiratory epithelium although it is unlikely that these by themselves increase the prevalence of asthma. However, the damage they cause allows other antigens to enter the lungs easily and trigger an attack.
Moulds in Food. Moulds grow in many places including breads or other foods. Foods and beverages that may contain moulds should not be given to the asthmatic child.

/ Cheese of all kind
/ Dried fruits
/ Mushrooms
/ Sour cream
/ Vinegar and foods containing vinegar
Breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is beneficial for many reasons, and avoiding additional animal protein like cow milk in early infancy is a logical step to protect high risk infants. Some studies, although not all, suggest it may help reduce the prevalence of allergy.
