A woman who was propositioned by a stranger she met online has fired back with a hilarious message inspired by The Godfather.

The anonymous woman responded to being asked for sex on OkCupid by a man she had never met, who is believed to be from Vienna, Virginia, by hitting back with a Don Corleone quote from the 1972 classic, blasting: 'You don't ask with respect. You don't even think to call me Godfather.'

However, her would-be suitor was apparently not a Francis Ford Coppola fan, as the Godfather references were completely lost on him.

Ignoring the Godfather references, he admitted: 'You are scaring me a lot.'

The woman's comeback was borrowed from a famous scene starring Mafioso Don Corleone and Amerigo Bonasera, in which the latter asks Dorleone - the 'Godfather' - to kill two young men who have brutally attacked his daughter.

Corleone reprimands Bonasera for asking such a big favour without showing proper respect, telling him: 'You come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married, and you ask me to do murder for money.'

But when the woman was propositioned on Tinder, she changed the words 'murder for money' to 'sex', blasting: 'I understand. You found paradise in America, you had a good trade, you made a good living.

'You are scaring me now a lot': The unnamed man replied: 'Are you sure that I came into your house? And met your Doughter?? I don't think so!! But why are you saying this I've never been in your house'

The quotes were taken from a famous scene in Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 classic The Godfather, starring Marlon Brando. But the woman's hapless suitor appeared to have no clue what she was talking about

'The police protected you and there were courts of law. You didn't need a friend like me.

'But, now you come to me, and you say:"Don Corleone, can I have sex with you?" But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me Godfather.

'Instead, you come into my house on the day my daughter is to be married, and you ask me if you can have sex with me. What have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully?'

The image was shared on the Instagram account Bye Felipe, which exposes men who turn hostile when rejected on dating sites.

After Bye Felipe shared the hilarious post, it notched up 15,000 likes and more than 1,400 comments in just three daysok cupid.

Ashley B wrote: 'This is amazing,' and Albert Park commented: 'loool I can't stop laughing at this'.

Bahrawm_ds simply wrote: 'Nailed it.' And Grace Illingworth added: 'This is quite honestly the best thing I've read in many moons.'

Followers were treated to the man's response the next day, in a post that received a further 9,200 likes.

He said: 'OMG the way you are talking to me now!! You are scaring me now a lot. but I wanna make sure that you that I have never been in your house, and I have never met you before and we have never ever talked before? This is my first time.

'And yes I wanna get to know you Cuz I don't know a lot of people. And when I asked you about sex! Yes I wanna have sex because I didn't had enought. And to be honest maybe the way I asked is rude. Sorry about that. But I have no way to ask for sex accept this way!

'Idk but forget about sec now. umm are you sure that I came to your house? And met u or your Doughter?? I don't think so!! But why are you saying this I've never been in your house.'
