Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the Jameson Empire Awards in London on Sunday night, the 23-year-old actress admitted she's in the running for the role of the video game vixen.

Revealing there 'have been conversations' regarding her playing Lara - a thrill-seeking English aristocrat with a passion fro archaeology -  Daisy explained she was waiting for film executives to give her the green light.

'I’m waiting for someone to say "I want you, let’s do it",' she said, adding that there wasn’t a script for the film yet whilst also affirming that the role was far from being hers at the moment.

And while Daisy is currently busy filming Star Wars: Episode VIII, the follow up to J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens, she added that given the chance she would pounce on the opportunity.

When asked about her avialability to commit to the rigours of such a huge - not to mention action-packed - role, she said she would 'absolutely' embrace the chance to 'fill up' her calendar.

And while her ever-growing swarm of fans will be in doubt to her suitability to play the role, her Star Wars co-star John Boyega admitted that he had already pegged her as a show-in to play Lara Croft.

'I played Tomb Raider [Square Enix's reboot of the Eidos Interactive original] the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version.' he began.

'But I texted Daisy [and] was like, "This is you!" and, "You need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft." She should be.'

Angelina Jolie was the first actress to strap on the English explorer's gu nbelts, and while she certainly exuded the sex appeal that has become synonymous with the video game franchise, her two stints in the role were critical flops.

Originally making her debut in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001 opposite a nefarious Daniel Craig, Angelina once-again took on the role in 2003's Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of LIfe, which also starred Gerrard Butler.

While both films had big budgets they failed to inspire, but with a new surge in popularity thanks to Square Enix's own reboot of the video games (2013).

And the latest big screen adaptation of Miss Croft's looks set to be a big screen translation of the Award-winning Rise Of The Tomb Raider title, with a release date currently slated for 2017.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Snow White And The Hunstman writer Evan Daugherty is reported to be penning the script, while Norwegian action director Roar Uthang is said to be directing the flick.
