Not your typical grandma! Susan Sarandon admits her granddaughter calls her 'honey' as her daughter Eva Amurri insists she is a much more 'structured' parent than the star
- Susan, 61, and her daughter Eva, 31, appeared on the Today show on Monday morning
- Eva, who accompanied her mom to movie sets and political rallies as a kid, said she's a more structured parent than Susan
- Susan said she's proud of her 'fierce', 'strong' daughter
- Last month, Eva shared on her blog how her husband had to fire their nanny after she sent him an inappropriate text message
Susan Sarandon does not want to be a grandma. That is, she may love doting on her 19-month-old granddaughter Marlowe — but the little girl will never call her grandma, granny, or gram.
'Honey is her grandma name,' Susan's daughter, actress Eva Amurri Martino, 31, told fellow mom Jenna Bush Hager on the Today show Monday morning.
But while Susan, 61, might not like the traditional moniker than comes with being a grandmother, she admitted that it is 'so much easier, so much easier' to be a grandma than it is to be a parent.

Different style: Eva said she is a more structured parent to daughter Marlowe than Susan was to her
Needless to say, the Academy Award winner isn't the average grandma — and she wasn't exactly a traditional mom, either.
By the time Eva was born, Susan was already a mega movie star, and she was still working in Hollywood as her daughter grew up. Eva went with her mom to political rallies and visited her on set — she was six when Thelma and Louise hit theaters, nine for The Client, and 12 when Stepmom came out.
Now a mom herself, Eva's strayed a bit from her mom's laid-back style. 'I'm much more of a structured parent,' she said.
She's taken some lessons from her mom, though. Eva said thanks to Susan, she values 'the importance of being kind to people, being there for people' — and she's also obviously followed in her cinematic footsteps.
Next up: The two will both appear in the upcoming ensemble film Mother's Day, which hits theaters in April
Loving family: Susan said Eva is a 'funny kid', and also called her 'fierce' and 'stong'
Though she took some time off after she and her husband, NBC Sports' Kyle Martino, welcomed baby Marlowe, she is now returning to acting with the film Mother's Day — which hits theaters April 29 and will star Susan, among other Hollywood A-listers.
'I just wanted to be putting my energy into something that I felt was just constructing something more positive in my life and for my daughter, especially,' she said.
But even though Eva's not doing things the same exact way her own mom did, Susan is impressed with her parenting skills.
'I think that what she's doing is amazing. I'm very proud of her. ... And she's really a funny kid. She's fierce, she's strong,' she said.
No grandma here! Susan also said that having her granddaughter call her 'honey' instead of 'grandma' is better
Uh-oh! Last month, Eva's husband Kyle Martino had to fire their nanny after she sent him inappropriate texts
Eva was certainly displayed her strength late last month, when she shared on her blog how she was keeping it together in the face of some pretty horrifying nanny drama.
Her nanny — who was, of course, fired immediately after the incident — had texted her husband inappropriately and was caught inappropriately spending time in their bedroom.
Pretending the text was meant for a friend, the nanny 'accidentally' sent this message to Kyle an hour before she was scheduled to show up for work: 'OMG. Girl, did I mention to you how hot and sex my Boss is. I would love to f*** his brains out ha haah. Too bad he seems not to like thick Latin women with lots to hold on to LOL.'
Then, before he could confront her, Kyle caught her in the bedroom he shared with Eva. Uncomfortable with the whole situation, he confronted her and fired her on the spot — and Eva shared the story on her blog.
'Strangely, this bizarre Nanny experience brought us even closer ... than we would have been otherwise,' she concluded.
