His Premier League career may be coming to a close but there is no doubt that John Terry is still a global star.

Terry, 35, found out how famous he is in China as he tried to head out in Shanghai.

He was surrounded by a group of Chelsea fans who wanted to get a photograph with him.

Terry was also photographed in the back of a car as he went on to explore China's largest city in terms of population.

That followed a training session that the former England captain held at a Shanghai high school on Monday.

Terry may have only been playing football with children, but that did not stop the Chelsea defender from putting in a slide tackle or two.

He helped a coaching clinic intended to encourage Chinese youngsters to play football.

Terry also dribbled around some cones, but he looked at his happiest putting his body on the line to win back the ball.

The 35-year-old also took some time out to offer guidance to the students, tapping into his years of Premier League experience.

It is the second time Terry has visited China in the last 12 months. He also did a tour of the country in summer 2015.

Terry made his first start since returning from injury against West Ham on Saturday, a game that Chelsea drew 2-2.

He came on as a substitute against Everton in the FA Cup the week prior.

Despite being one of the most important players in Chelsea's history, the club seem unlikely to offer him a new contract.

His current deal expires at the end of the season, which means he could depart Stamford Bridge for free in the summer.

Terry suggested earlier in March that no discussions were taking place over a new contract.

He said: 'There's no dialogue at the moment but that's not to say there won't be. Who knows what the future holds.'

Offers for Terry in the summer are likely to come from China or the United States.

After taking part in the session Terry attended a Chelsea supporters' conference at a hotel.
