Love hurts and this star is not about to be fooled twice.

Jimmy Fallon headed out in New York on Monday without his wedding ring on.

But that does not mean he does not love wife Nancy any less, he is just a little more attached to his ring finger.

Almost a year since the 41-year-old came close to losing his finger when his ring was ripped off his digit in an accident, the comedian is not giving his wedding band a second chance.

While looking much better and now not requiring bandages, The Tonight Show star's finger still was slightly discoloured and scarred.

Last June, the host had slipped in his kitchen and when he fell onto his counter, he suffered what is known as ring avulsion - where by the tissue is ripped off from the finger.

The incident landed the star in ICU for 10 days and almost cost him his finger.

While the star had the important piece of jewellery repaired after it was cut off him, he told TMZ that he did not plan to wear it as a ring again.

He told the website: 'I don't think as ring, maybe a necklace.'

If he was wearing the token of love around his neck it was impossible to tell as the star layered up in checked shirt with a heavy grey wool jacket and dark jeans.

Jimmy and his wife Nancy in 2007 and the couple share two children Winnie, two, and Frances, 15 months.
