He's known far and wide across the globe for his musical skills.

And it was only befitting of his rock god status that Sting cut an impressive figure as he ventured out into New York city, on Wednesday.

The Desert Rose singer, 64, made sure he cut a suave figure when he stepped out for an afternoon stroll around the Upper East Side with a friend - while wife Trudie enjoyed a catch-up with a pal across town.

The former Police frontman cut a trim and handsome figure in his smart yet understated ensemble, as he ventured out into the streets of Manhattan for an afternoon stroll.

Opting for comfort as well as style, the Wallsend-born star opted for a seasonally sensible look - pulling on a grey jumper, which he wore underneath a double breasted navy overcoat.

Keeping to his smart casual theme the Message In A Bottle singer wore a pair of dark nacy trousers, which he paired with some shin-high black canvas boots.

Looking remarkably fresh-faced, the rocker sported a clean-shaven look and wore his greying blonde hair unstyled, while he also sported a pair of smart spectacles.

However, earlier on in the day, the singer had obviously chose his outfit with a particular purpose in mind, as the athletic star cut a very sporty figure.

Padding his way along the streets - presumably on his way to a workout - Sting looked ready to hit the gym, as he sported a white tee-shirt, Nike running leggings and a pair of pale blue Converse All Stars.

But obviously not immune to the cold weather slicing through New York's streets, he wire a luxury silver quilted jacket to keep the wind at bay.

And while they're one of the sturdiest and dependable couples in showbiz, Trudie appeared to be in need of a bit of a girl time.

Teaming a leopard-print shirt with a pair of white culottes trousers, the mother-of-four rocked a swish and stylish look.

And adding a hint of a rock star edge to her outfit, Tudie wore a distressed olive leather jacket, while she rounded her look off with as pair of tan and black peep-toe platform shoes.

She rounded her look off with a satchel-style handbag, but kept her look free of any other clutter for her relaxing lunch out - bar a pair of sunglasses.

Trudie wore her blonde locks up in a loose topknot, while she kept her striking looks frimly on display with an minimal palette of make-up.

The couple are currently in their adopted home-town of New York - where they spend much of their time - following a sun-soaked break in St. Barts.
