'That looks like a woman!' Kathie Lee Gifford says Justin Bieber is the spitting image of Kristen Stewart

He is a household name and one of the most recognized faces in entertainment.

But Kathie Lee Gifford could not believe her eyes when an image of Justin Bieber appeared in front of her, instead confusing the singer for none other than actress Kristen Stewart.

'That looks like a woman, right there!', the 62-year-old talk show host blurted out on Wednesday on the Today Show. 'I'm sorry, but I keep thinking, "Is that Kristen Stewart?"'

Kathie Lee's observation even drew the laughter from her production crew.

'I mean it looks like, it's earrings, and that weird...does it not look like Kristen Stewart!?' the flabbergasted host exclaimed.

'It kinda does a little,' Hoda replied.

Still not convinced, Kathie asked once more, 'Is that Bieber!?', before receiving a positive identification from Hoda.

'Is that Bieber!?' Hoda eventually chimed in to confirm that the image was in fact Justin, after agreeing that the photo did bear a slight resemblance to Kristen

The confusion occurred just as Kathie Lee and Hoda were about to talk about Justin cancelling all his meet and greets with fans.

The star announced on Instagram on Tuesday: 'I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people's spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy.

'Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression.'

Justin continued to say having to pull the plug was really on him as he feels pressure to live up to expectations and wants to keep himself healthy.

After Bieber's news lit up the Internet, a source claimed to TMZ that the situation was prompted by security concerns.

According to the source, an obsessed female fan, who was on the singer's security 'watch list', got within 10 feet of the star during a meet and greet at Staples Center in LA on Monday night.

TMZ said Bieber wasn't aware the fan was so close but it was 'the last straw' for his team that has been struggling to manage the number of people paying between $900 and $2,000 for special access to the 22-year-old.

Fan reaction was swift, and mixed.

While some expressed disappointment and even anger at his decision to no longer meet with fans who had paid for an up close encounter with the pop star, others tweeted supportive messages of love.

Twitter user @codyspearz wrote: 'You're paid millions of dollars thanks to those fans who "drain" you. Sorry your life is so hard.'

But fan @TheEstherCutie tweeted: 'Don't hate on @justinbieber for cancelling his M&Gs love him for wanting to be a better person (sic).'
