Move aside, dad! Tartan-clad Ewan McGregor is upstaged by pretty daughter Clara, 20, as they attend Miles Ahead premiere in NYC

He's a proud father to four daughters with wife of 21 years, Eve Mavrakis.

But Ewan McGregor found himself well and truly upstaged by his eldest girl, Clara, 20, as they hit the red carpet at the Miles Ahead premiere at The Cinema Society in New York City on Wednesday evening. 

The Scottish actor, 44, looked proud as punch as he posed with the striking blonde at the star-studded celebration of his latest movie.

Opting for a punky look for the occasion, the Trainspotting star paid homage to his roots in a pair of bright red tartan trousers, which he teamed with patent leather lace-up boots.

The father-of-four completed hie look with a simple black blazer jacket and T-shirt.  

But it was Clara - the eldest of Ewan and French production designer wife Eve's four daughters; twins Esther and Jamyan, 14, and Anouk, four - who well and truly stole the show.

The pretty blonde, who is an aspiring photographer, looked lovely in an elegant black silk playsuit, which she teamed with leather shoe boots and a tailored blazer as she enjoyed her moment in the spotlight. 

Wearing her blonde locks falling loosely around her shoulders and accentuating her naturally striking features with low-key make-up, Clara was the image of her mother, Eve. 

Miles Ahead, which explores the life and music of iconic jazz trumpeter Miles Davis, was written, produced and directed by Don Cheadle. 

It was filmed back in 2014, and is now getting released after being picked up by Sony Pictures Classics.

But while music fans will be looking forward to seeing the movie when it hits cinemas on April 1, film aficionado in general are likely far more interested in Ewan's latest Scottish project.

For he is returning to the role of Mark Renton, the part that made him famous, for the long-awaited Trainspotting 2, which will see him finally reuite with director Danny Boyle after the pair's famous falling out after the latter cast Leonardo DiCaprio in The Beach.

Perhaps most excitingly of all, Hamish McBeth favourite Robert Carlyle has confirmed he will be returning to play the psychotic, yet darkly comical, Francis Begbie
