And Natasha Bedingfield is still taking fashion risks over a decade later, sporting a dazzling sequinned dress with a thigh-high split when she stepped out in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The 34-year-old singer's mermaid chic look ensured she stood out from the crowd at the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability Celebrates the Champions of Our Planet's Future event.

Natasha displayed her curves in the flesh-hued number with rainbow undertones, which blended in with her porcelain complexion.

The glittering gown boasted sheer sleeves and a see-through section at the waist, with blue sequins at the bust ensuring her look remained modest.

The Unwritten hitmaker set off the daring number with a pair of gold platform heels in a peep-toe style, wearing her blonde locks in a sleek bob.

Fans are eagerly awaiting Natasha's grand return to the music industry - and she treated guests at the event to a sneak peek with a live performance.

The British musician changed into a rock chic, all-black ensemble, pairing a plunging top and skinny jeans with a studded leather jacket and a fedora.

Her debut album Unwritten gained double-platinum sales in the UK and gold sales in the US, its Grammy-nominated title track becoming American radio’s most-played song of the year in 2006.

Natasha cancelled her British tour twice to continue promoting her Gold-selling second album in the US and keep up her popularity in the States.

It reached number three in the Billboard charts and tours with Justin Timberlake and a charity collaboration with acts including Beyoncé, Rihanna and Mariah Carey followed.

But when her third album was released in 2009, Strip Me Away, it received little reaction and did not appear in the UK.

Although she's yet to put out a new album, which she first announced she was working on in 2012, Natasha had good news to celebrate in 2009 when she wed her Californian beau Matt Robinson.

She recently tweeted she's been in the studio with Tine Tempah and producer Naughty Boy, and she released a dance single called Unicorn with Belgian DJ Basto in January.
