They've had an exciting week, announcing their engagement with a sweet Instagram snap on Tuesday.

And on Thursday evening Hilary Swank and her new fiancé Ruben Torres headed out and about together.

The Oscar winning actress hid her huge emerald and diamond ring as the happy couple strolled, wrapped up warm in smart coats.

Hilary, 41, teamed her black coat with leggings and adidas trainers as she walked side by side with her former tennis pro partner.

It's been a week of celebrations for the couple, with Hilary sharing a cute snap of the couple snuggled up at dinner on Wednesday.

Hilary, dressed in a white top, is seen showing off her engagement ring as she poses with a smiling Ruben who looks smart in a suit and tie.

Dinner date: It's been a week of celebrations for the couple, with Hilary sharing a cute snap of the couple snuggled up at dinner on Wednesday

Hilary captioned the photo, shared on Thursday: '#tbt to last night where my dear friend, @mollymickler took us out to celebrate our #engagement! ☺️'

On Tuesday the excited actress shared another Instagram snap to announce her engagement, gushing alongside the selfie: 'Went on a hike and this happened! I am so happy to announce the engagement to my dear Ruben.'

Ruben, who is from Colombia, played tennis at University of Southern California before going pro.

Now retired from the sport, he is a coach and and also works as a financial adviser for UBS in Los Angeles.

The couple have been dating since July last year.

It will be the second marriage for The Boys Don't Cry and Million Dollar Baby Oscar winner. She was previously married to actor Chad Lowe from 1997 to 2007.

When she won her first Best Actress Academy Award in 2000 for Boys Don't Cry, she famously forgot to thank her husband in her acceptance speech.

When she won again in 2005, she did remember to thank him, but in 2006 they separated and their divorce was finalized on November 1, 2007.

Hilary went on to date her agent John Campisi and they were together for six years until parting in 2012.
