But for Justin Bieber it seems to have worked a treat.

The 23-year-old's name was tweeted several times by ecstatic fans who'd snagged tickets for the Canadian's Purpose Tour gig.

And the news was confirmed when one fan named Cassandra Snapchatted the Texan, who had landed an enviable seat in the sound mixers area.

Even though many of Justin's songs are supposedly written about her, the Heart Wants What It Wants hitmaker didn't seem too engrossed at that particular moment, as she was seen checking her phone.

However she may have been just checking to see if her ex had mentioned her again on Instagram, as he had done in borderline-desperate fashion just four days ago.

The snap, which has since attracted more than 3million likes, showed the two former sweethearts sharing a smooch in the sea.

It's thought the photo dates back to about 2011, as it shows a much younger, much scrawnier Justin, minus much of his recent tattoos and muscle mass. His hair is also the top heavy mop more closely associated with his teenage years.

He summed the throwback photo with a single word: 'feels'.

The gesture certainly caught the attention of Gomez, who was among the 838,046 people to leave a comment, hers reading just: 'Perfect'.

The two celebrities dated from late 2010 to mid-2014 before going their separate ways as the What Do You Mean singer began to embrace a new bad boy image.

She wasn't the only celeb at the concert on Wednesday night: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West returned to see the show for a second time, this time bringing Kendall, Kylie and - if reports are to be believed, Bieber's other recent fling - Kourtney.
