  • Italy and European champions Spain played out a friendly draw in Udine
  • The opening 45 minutes were relatively uneventful at the Dacia Arena
  • Vicente del Bosque collided with a linesman on touchline during first half
  • The boss was sent crashing to the floor in what looked like a painful clash
  • Del Bosque dusted himself down and shook hands with linesman in Udine

Spain manager Vicente del Bosque was left red-faced during the first half of the 1-1 draw with Italy after a collision with the linesman saw him take a tumble on the touchline.

The first half was relatively uneventful until Del Bosque was forced to dust himself down after hitting the deck.

With the ball heading for a Spain throw-in, the assistant referee was unaware of the manager's presence on the touchline and accidentally clattered into him as he made his way down the line.

The 65-year-old Spaniard was sent crashing to the floor in what looked like a painful clash of heads before regaining his composure and shaking hands with the linesman.

Fortunately for Del Bosque, it didn't prove to be the talking point as two goals in the second half saw Italy and Spain play out a draw at the Dacia Arena.

Substitute Lorenzo Insigne popped up with a clever flicked finish on 67 minutes to open the scoring for the Italians in front of home support.

However the European champions, who were well below their best on Thursday, levelled the scores three minutes later when Aritz Aduriz fired home from close range.

Both teams were chasing the win but were unable to find a winner in the 34th meeting between the two European heavyweights.

The Spaniards will now look ahead to Sunday's international friendly in Romania as Del Bosque continues to run the rule over his players who are bidding to book a spot on the plane to France.
