Is Ivanka on maternity leave? Donald Trump's best female advisor MIA as candidate gets into more hot water with women this week than he has since he started his campaign

  • Donald Trump has launched attacks on Heidi Cruz, the women of The View and Fox News host Megyn Kelly this week
  • The attacks came despite the release of a poll last week that found half of the women in the United States have a 'very unfavorable' view of Trump
  • Trump's most trusted female advisor, his daughter Ivanka, has also not been seen with him on the campaign trail since last month
  • He said in a speech on Monday that his pregnant daughter was 'about to have a beautiful Jewish baby'
  • Ivanka has been seen in New York City with her husband Jared Kushner, but there have been no new photos of her this week

Donald Trump has drawn criticism across the board this week for his decision to retweet an unflattering photo of Ted Cruz's wife Heidi next to his own model wife Melania.

Trump also went after the women of The View by retweeting a follower who called them 'brain-dead puppets' and frequent target Megyn Kelly this week, despite the release of a Reuters poll revealing that half of the women in this country have a 'very unfavorable' view of the Republican front-runner.

These recent attacks also come in the absence of his most trusted female advisor, daughter Ivanka Trump, who is waylaid from travelling and homebound awaiting the arrival of her third child.

Ivanka's absence from the campaign also comes a few weeks after her father said she was imminently due to give birth to his new grandchild that his daughter has said was due in early spring.

This week marked the beginning of spring, and perhaps the beginning of Ivanka's maternity leave, which may be why her father is not being told that his attacks may have gone a bit too far.

The last time Ivanka was seen was earlier this week when she posted a SnapChat of herself dropping off Purim treats for her staff at the office on Tuesday.

She was also at the office on St. Patrick's Day, and again posted a SnapChat of her business meeting with Gia Pirolo, The Trump Organization’s head interior designer.

And the weekend before that she and her husband Jared Kushner enjoyed the ultimate New York City dream date - a night out seeing Hamilton on Broadway.

She and Kushner were also photographed grabbing breakfast in Manhattan earlier this month.

Heavily pregnant Ivanka has not however been on the campaign trail in quite some time, and was last seen on February 20 in South Carolina with her family.

She spoke after her father claimed victory in that primary, praising his abilities, and since that time has only been spotted in New York City.

Ivanka has also not posted any new photos of herself on her Instagram account in the past two weeks.

Her father said on Monday while speaking at AIPAC; 'My daughter Ivanka is about to have a beautiful Jewish baby.

'In fact, it could be happening right now, which would be very nice as far as I’m concerned.'

Trump, 69, first announced he was running for president in June and was introduced by his daughter Ivanka in a gushing speech.

Ivanka, 35, is an executive vice president at the Trump Organization.

She found her way to the company after attending her father's alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania after she spending her first two years of college at Georgetown.

Unlike her big brother Donald Jr. however. Ivanka accepted a job at Forest City Enterprises where she worked for a year before going to work for her father.

In addition to her work at The Trump Organization, she also appeared on her father's former NBC reality show The Apprentice and is a designer and author.

In 2009 she released her book The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life and has handbag, footwear and jewelry lines she sells under her name.

She married real estate investor Kushner, who also owns The New York Observer, in 2009 at Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey after converting to Judaism.

Ivanka has two children, a daughter Arabella, 4, and a son Joseph, 2.

Ivanka's plate is already full being a mother and running a company in addition to her job at The Trump Organization, but she still found time to work for her father in an unofficial capacity on the campaign trail.

Even when she could not make it out to campaign, like during the recent primary in Arizona, Ivanka still recorded a video encouraging residents to get out and vote which she posted on Facebook.

Trump ultimately ended up winning that state's primary.

Her father is also her biggest fan, telling Rolling Stone in September; 'Yeah, she's really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren't happily married and, ya know, her father...'

The New York Times in fact referred to Ivanka as her father's 'unofficial campaign spouse' due to the fact that wife Melania prefers to stay home with their son Barron.

Her father does not always listen to her input though, with New York reporting that after her father's offensive remarks about Mexicans in his June speech last year Ivanka drafted a statement for him to dial back his comments.

'Donald didn’t like it,' a source close to the front-runner told the magazine.
