The family of missing US couple Stephanie and Justin Shults, caught up in the terror of Brussels Airport, today tore into Belgian investigators.

They questioned whether enough was being done to find the couple who are feared to have been injured or killed in Tuesday's massacre.

One of Justin's relatives took to Twitter to say the lack of information was driving them 'crazy'.

Tonight Betty Newsom, Stephanie's aunt, told Daily Mail Online that she believed finding the couple may not have been a priority.

'Are they putting all their resources into finding out about the bombers? Are they looking for the bombers and forgetting about the injured?

'My baby girl and Justin may be lying injured in a hospital and we know nothing, nothing at all.

'They should be doing everything possible to find them. We haven't given up hope. We still believe they are alive and will come home.'

Mrs Newsom, whose sister Carolyn Moore was being waved goodbye at the airport when the bombers struck, has been joined by Stephanie's father Geary.

He is said by friends to be 'broken hearted' by the mystery over his daughter and son-in-law.

Mrs Newsom said family members of the victims and injured were being given once-daily briefings by officials in Brussels but information was scant and people were yelling but having to be restrained.

She added: 'My mother Katy died 16 years ago and she is the guardian angel of our family.

'Last night I prayed and asked her to help bring my baby girl and her husband home safely. I said "Bring them home".

'I am confident they will be found, but not being given any information is very difficult.'

Justin's brother Levi Sutton tweeted: 'For all those asking, we haven't gotten any updates today and we are going on almost 70 hours without contact from them. This is crazy.'

Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee, speaking on behalf of both families, said: 'At this time, neither Belgian or US officials have confirmed that Justin and Stephanie Shults have been located.

'We are thankful for the outpouring of love and support we have refined at this difficult time and ask for prayers for Justin and Stephanie.'

Yesterday attorney Anne-Tyler Morgan, one of Stephanie's friends, told Daily Mail Online that she was praying for the safe return of the couple.

She said: 'It is important to keep all the hope you can until we know something definite.

'But I think the level of worry mounts with each passing hour.'

Morgan first met her sorority sister in 2004 when they began studying at Transylvania University, in Lexington, Kentucky, and they became firm friends.

'We became fast friends, and we both studied French. She studied accounting and I studied political science,' Morgan said.

'We met during orientation weekend and we were sorority sisters and very close ones.

'We went ice skating, we went out for ice cream. We shared stories and we lived in the same hall of our dormitory.

'We'd stay up and tell stories until the middle of the night and talk about what we wanted to do with our lives and everything that college sorority sisters do. It was a really magical time.

'Stephanie was always going to do something big. She was intelligent and inquisitive and a lover of the world. She was up for exploring new place, seeing new things and meeting new people.

'If there was anything to learn, Stephanie wanted to learn it. We studied abroad together in the Philippines and expanded our friendship.'

She added: 'Stephanie is very fun-loving and I would consider her a very spunky, feisty person, full of life and very vibrant.

'She is an extremely supportive friend. She had a lot of friends and I think that has been evident in the outpouring that has come since her and Justin's disappearance.

'I have been really amazed and touched by the number of people who have reached out to assist in whatever way they can through prayers or general support or direct action by contacting folk in Europe to assist in the search.'

She said her friend was a dog lover and once helped her care for a stray and was also a fan of the University of Kentucky basketball fan.

Shults had also acted as a cheerleader for Transylvania University basketball team. The two sang 'Don't Speak' by No Doubt together in a karaoke session while traveling abroad.

She said: 'It is important to keep all the hope you can until we know something definite.

'But I think the level of worry mounts with each passing hour. I don't know that there is much worse than not knowing what is happening with somebody.

'Certainly with the number of search teams that are out there looking for Stephanie and Justin, we understand that it is a very tumultuous situation in Brussels right now.

'We are certainly not the only ones who have somebody in our lives who is unfortunately missing or who has been injured.

'While we are holding out hope there is a general level of prayer going out… It is certainly disheartening. I am praying that they are found and for the state of the world.'

She said Lexington was waiting for good news and not being too dismayed by the lack of news of the missing couple's whereabouts.

'She will have a long line of people waiting to greet her. The welcoming party at the gates of Lexington would be great and I can't wait to attend.'

The Shults family has already expressed their disgust with officials involved with the Brussels recovery operation after they were told the couple had been found injured, only for it to later emerge that they were still missing.

Their family's hopes were raised on Wednesday when they received a call from a social worker, saying the couple had been found at a Brussels hospital.

But their happiness quickly turned to confusion and anger when they learned just two hours later that the social worker had been wrong.

'We called Senator Corker’s office and we gave them the information that a social worker from Belgium had called me and asked me where I got my information from,' Justin's mother Sheila Shell told WATE.

'I had told her I got a call from the State Department and she said, "well that information is incorrect. They have not been found and they are not in any hospital that we have here".'

'I am disgusted that the information given to us wasn't 100 per cent correct,' Justin's brother Levi Sutton wrote in a furious tweet on Wednesday.

Two siblings from New York were today confirmed dead following the airport blast, which was followed by a bombing at a metro station on a day of terror that claimed 34 lives and injured 200 people.

The family of Dutch sister and brother Sascha and Alexander Pinczowski were told the pair have been found dead.

The siblings were on the phone to their mother in Holland when the first explosions were heard and the line went dead.

James Cain, the former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark whose daughter Cameron was engaged to Alexander Pinczowski, released a statement on behalf of the family on Friday.

'We received confirmation this morning from Belgian Authorities and the Dutch Embassy of the positive identification of the remains of Alexander and Sascha.

'We are grateful to have closure on this tragic situation, and are thankful for the thoughts and prayers from all. The family is in the process of making arrangements,' the statement read.

Cain, who now lives in Raleigh, Virginia, remembered Alexander as a 'brilliant young man' who was clever and 'intimidatingly smart'.
