Sad news: On Monday, it was announced via Variety that Lawman star Peter Brown had passed away at the age of 80
Brown played Deputy Johnny McKay, who was tasked with policing the town of Laramie with his partner Marshall Dan Troop after the original marshal is killed.
As his popularity as a western star grew, he became a regular on the NBC western Laredo from 1965-67 and would eventually guest star on other westerns like Cheyenne, Maverick, and The Virginian.
While he always maintained a TV presence, the journeyman actor also delved into films, such as the 1974 classic blaxploitation film Foxy Brown, where he starred alongside beauty Pam Grier.

As the TV western declined, he found work on many of the most well-known soap operas in history, including Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless.
Brown did always manage to keep his hand in prime time to an extent, with guest appearances on staples like The Bob Newhart Show, Magnum P.I., Wonder Woman, Dallas, Knight Rider and Baywatch.
He finally decided to call it a career with 2005's feature Hell to Pay, which was fittingly a western.

Originally born as Pierre Lind de Lappe in New York City, his family moved west when he was still young.
His interest in acting took off while he was in the Army, driving him to start a theater company at the Alaskan base in which he was stationed.
He is survived by fifth wife Kerstin, his children Joshua, Matt and Christi and three grandchildren.
