So, when will they make it down the aisle? James Packer and Mariah Carey's wedding 'put on hold indefinitely' as friends claim billionaire's mother Roslyn and his popstar fiancée are 'very different women'

She ruled out any hopes that he may appear in her reality TV show last week.

And as Mariah Carey and James Packer juggle hectic work schedules and sell-out world tours, it has been claimed their hotly anticipated nuptials may take place later than initially expected.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the glamorous duo have put wedding planning on hold while Mariah sees out her European tour.

Another reason for the delay, it claimed, is the ceremony's guest list.

While none of the Packer family have spoken publicly about the engagement, a friend claimed the billionaire's mother Ros and her soon-to-be daughter-in-law are 'very different women'.

'Ros is a woman raised in the country with very traditional values who has maintained a dignified silence for all the years she and Kerry were in the spotlight.

'Mariah is all bells, whistles and flashbulbs ... they are very different women,' a source told the newspaper.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted representatives for both stars.

Last week Mariah ruled out speculation her beau would appear in her forthcoming TV show, Mariah's World, describing him as a 'legit businessman'.

She told The New York Times it wouldn't be 'his thing' to be 'traipsing all over Europe' while she completed her tour on camera for the E! series.

Despite being absent from her social media feed of late, James was spotted at his fiancée's London concert on Wednesday.

He later jetted to New York and was seen running errands the following day.

The pair became engaged in January during an intimate dinner in the city with Mariah's closest friends and family present.

It came eight months in to their whirlwind romance which began with a string of luxurious European holidays in June.

Gushing over their relationship in later interviews, Mariah described it as a 'fantasy'.

She has made no attempt at disguising her affection for the 48-year-old casino mogul, inviting him on to the stage at her Valentine's Day show for a loving kiss.

It will be her third marriage, having previously wed Nick Cannon, the father of her four-year-old twins, and music executive Tommy Molotta in 1993.

James has also been married twice before. The businessman was married to first wife Jodhi Meares for three years before parting ways in 2002.

He separated from his second wife Ericka, with whom he has three children, in 2013.
