'J-Lo f*** off!' Steven Van Zandt's wife tweets disgust after American Idol judge forgets name of Bruce Springsteen's guitarist

He's one of the most famous rock musicians in the world but on Thursday night's America idol, Jennifer Lopez couldn't remember his name.

The pop star, who's a judge on the reality competition, found herself struggling to recall that Bruce Springsteen's guitarist Steve Van Zandt was the mentor for the night's performances.

And Steve's wife Maureen was clearly irate, tweeting, according to Billboard.com: 'Really @JLo needs to f*** off.'

Maureen, who's been married to the rocker and Sopranos star since 1982, has since deleted the offending tweets, although some of her other comments relating to J-Lo still remained on her Twitter feed Friday.

She took umbrage at Jennifer's gaffe, explaining:: 'I saw it as insulting. But then it's normal for me to take it personally. She didn't know the mentor's name?'

Maureen, 64, also wasn't happy that Jen, 46, seemed to suggest that Steve's mentoring of Mackenzie Bourg was responsible for the Idol contestant performing a cover of Cheap Trick's I Want You To Want Me that she didn't like.

She tweeted: 'Shows how little homework she does. Or how little she retains. And Stevie did not do that arrangement.'

'She knows nothing about the rock world. And is a music judge?' she added.

The row was still simmering Friday afternoon.

Maureen tweeted back to a J-Lo fan account: 'I think part of her job is to know who's coaching the singers she's judging. It's disrespectful to not acknowledge a person's work.'

Stevie, as the guitarist likes to be called, had been invited by  in-house mentor and Big Machine Records label head Scott Borchetta to mentor the remaining top five American Idol contestants through a theme of classic rock songs.

As Billboard.com reported, ,the rock guitarist wasn't 'feeling' Mackenzie's first rendition of the Cheap trick classic and as the mentor, advised him to try something different.

After her performed his final version live for the judges, the Jenny From The Block hitmaker began her critique, saying: 'I would have liked to have heard what you did originally before...uh, uh... mentor?' she said floundering around.

She turned to her fellow judges Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. for help, with Harry prompting her with 'Steven.'
