Martin Keown and Ryan Giggs play footpool to predict winner of England and Wales Euro 2016 clash... but who came out on top?

Former England defender Martin Keown and Welsh wizard Ryan Giggs squared off at footpool in a bid to predict the outcome of their respective country's Euro 2016 clash.

In the McDonald's sponsored video posted on YouTube, Keown provided what is hopefully a good omen for Three Lions fans as the former Arsenal defender came out on top in the home nations showdown.

Although it is doubtful the defeat will be as painful, it continues a miserable record for Giggs in contests against the English.

During his playing career, the Manchester United number two lost on both occasions when he played against the Three Lions.

Despite picking up 43 caps Keown never played against Wales but seemed to relish getting one over his former on-field rival.

As the pair played out their footpool contest they discussed the clash in Lens on June 16.Ā

Giggs tried to get some mind games going ahead of the summer competition by suggesting the onus is on England to get a result in France.

He said: 'The pressure's on England they're expected to win aren't they?'

However after some pressing from Sportsmail columnist Keown on Welsh prospects, Giggs admitted:Ā 'I do fancy their chances.' Before adding that Gareth Bale has the potential to be a matchwinner on his own.

Keown was clearly enjoying playing the inquisitor and probed Giggs, who only retired from playing in 2014, whether he wishes he could be involved at this summer's Euros.

Giggs replied: 'I would love to have been out there,' before adding,Ā 'I played twice against England and got beat both times.'

Perhaps Keown's questioning got to the Welshman, but Giggs squandered chances for victory presenting his rival with a simple pot on the black for the win.

The former Gunner took it gladly but it remains to be seen whether Roy Hodgson's side will follow suit in June.Ā
