The tour had its ups and downs with a highlight being her moving tribute to her idol David Bowie during a Houston, Texas show.

Meanwhile, a number of famous fans joined the singer onstage including Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Idris Elba, Jessica Chastain, Amy Schumer and Gwendoline Christie, who were named the night's Unapologetic Bitch.

Madonna first gained the top solo touring accolade in 2009 after the conclusion of her Sticky & Sweet tour.

However the queen was knocked off her throne by Bruce Springsteen, who surpassed the singer with his successful Wrecking Ball and High Hopes tours from 2012 through 2014.

She now currently places third on the top grossing touring act (including groups), sitting closely behind The Rolling Stones and U2.

Meanwhile, Madonna has remained the highest-grossing female touring artist for the past 12 years.

She staked that claim in 2004 with the wrap of her Re-Invention World Tour and has remained the top solo female concert headliner ever since.
