Calais Jungle is unrecognizable after bulldozers flatten land where refugees were evicted

It was home to more than 6,000 migrants hoping to smuggle their way into Britain. But huge swathes of the notorious 'Jungle' camp in Calais are no more after it was bulldozed by the French authorities. The squalid shantytown on land close to the ferry terminal had grown into a tented city with more than a dozen shops, restaurants, a hotel and even a nightclub (top). However, these pictures show nearly the entire south side of the site has been razed (bottom) after a French court last month gave its blessing to the clearance.

KATIE HOPKINS: The real threat is not the far right - it's the smug left! When did it become acceptable to water cannon people standing up for their country while turning a blind eye to the destruction of Europe?

KATIE HOPKINS: The real threat is not the far right – it’s the smug left!

Whilst it seems perfectly acceptable to turn the water cannon on nationals, determined to stand up for their country and culture, it is never acceptable to criticise migrants, terrorists or extremists planning attacks, writes KATIE HOPKINS. It seems to me there is a yawning gulf between the treatment and reporting of the far-left and the far-right, and and even bigger chasm between nationals and migrant populations, who lack respect for the culture they have joined. The left are so busy kowtowing to the rights of those who have chosen to join our culture, the right has lost the freedom to defend the culture they have chosen to join.

Run-down shacks, abandoned outbuildings and a discarded bottle of baby oil: The haunting remains of an abandoned Sixties Maine NUDIST colony which was top secret before wild parties alerted the authorities

Abandoned Maine nudist colony revealed in eye-opening photos

Miles from civilization, hidden in a thick brush of bare trees and brown winter grass, lie the warped and decayed buildings of a once thriving colony. But once, rumor has it, this crumbling pile was home to a group of naturists from nearby Durham who'd enjoy the woodlands while soaking in the soft summer sun. And it might have been forgotten altogether, if it wasn't for Tia Nadeau of the Durham Maine Historical Society and Quest for the Unknown hadn't tracked it down and taken these eerie-but-beautiful photographs, which she shared with both groups Wednesday.
