Saracens chairman Nigel Wray tears into Aviva Premiership schedule as Newcastle director of rugby Dean Richards fumes

Table-topping Saracens have described the season structure as ‘rank stupidity’ after losing nine players to England and Scotland duty during the RBS 6 Nations. Having started the season unbeaten, Saracens won just four out of eight games during the international window, when they were without the likes of Billy Vunipola and Owen Farrell. ‘Imagine saying to Arsenal and Chelsea you have to play the next 10 games without eight top players,’ said chairman Nigel Wray before Saturday’s 36-18 victory over Exeter.
