Explosive new book claims Kim Kardashian 'discussed the idea of producing a sex tape' as Kris Jenner 'engineered the deal'

There are claims in a new book that Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner deliberately leaked the sex tape to make her famous.

The soon-to-be released tell-all, Kardashian Dynasty by Ian Halperin, claims that Kim had signed a contract with Vivid Entertainment to leak the sex tape she had made with singer Ray J in 2003, according to a Sunday night report from Page Six.

The 51-year-old Canadian journalist includes a quote from a source in the 'adult film industry' who said: 'A mutual friend of Kim and Paris [Hilton] had advised her that if she wanted to achieve fame, a sex tape would be the way to go.

'Kim had discussed the idea of producing a tape with her family beforehand.'

Regarding the claims, a rep for Kim Kardashian told DailyMail.com that it's just an 'old regurgitated story which I believe has been addressed on multiple occasions.'

In a June 2012 interview with Oprah, Kim addressed those rumours as she said: 'I think why would anyone put that humiliation on their family like that?'

She insisted that she was most concerned about her family with the release of her sex tape and added:  'I've always been concerned about humiliating the family and that's what I did.

'And that's something that I'm going to have to live with for the rest of my life and have to explain to my children one day. Imagine the conversation that I had to have with my grandmother.'

A rep for Kris has also been contacted by DailyMail.com.

The now 35-year-old reality star was not the only one who allegedly had a hand in the release of the video as it's claimed that the now 60-year-old momager also had some responsibility.

A former friend of Kim had told Halperin: 'It was Kris who engineered the deal behind the scenes and was responsible for the tape seeing the light of day.'

According to Page Six, while looking to clarify what exactly is needed in order to for a video of that nature to be released, the author posed as a someone looking to sell another sex tape of a star.

A Vivid spokesperson who told him: 'When it comes to... selling a sex tape, both parties need to sign off.'

Of the explosive new claims, the Canadian writer concluded: 'It is clear that Vivid would not have announced plans to distribute Kim’s tape without a clear indication from the family that they would give the go-ahead once they had come to terms on a price.'
