Olivia Wilde looks ladylike in white lace dress and leather jacket... after appearing nude in racy new TV show Vinyl

She's considered a style icon to many, and Olivia Wilde certainly didn't disappoint on Thursday.

The 32-year-old star proved she can rock high street fashion like the rest of us, sporting a white lace dress from H&M's eco-friendly Conscious collection as she stepped out in New York City.

Olivia was the picture of elegance in her ultra feminine attire, featuring a modest neckline and full skirt with semi-sheer panels.

The Rush actress gave her ladylike look a masculine, tough edge thanks to a slim-fitting leather jacket and a pair of towering peep-toe heels.

She went bare-legged in the spring-friendly ensemble, which she completed with a pair of cat eye sunglasses from Smoke X Mirrors.

Olivia styled her sun-kissed locks in well-defined curls and was sporting minimal make-up for her outing.

Look lovely in lace like Olivia Wilde

With spring here and summer on the way we're looking to lighten up our wardrobes.

And that means ditching the moody black and grey and embracing a fresh palette and more feminine aesthetic. And what better way to do that than with some lovely white lace? Olivia Wilde knows the score and was spotted out and about in a gorgeous midi yesterday.

From the H&M Conscious Collection it's a very pretty fit-and-flare dress with a high neck, long sleeves and a full skirt. And the good news for those who are friends of the environment is that it's made in a more sustainable way than regular throw away fashion.

It's not available to buy just yet but click (right) to shop the current collection online now. Or recreate Olivia's pretty look with one of the lace dresses in our edit below. The dress from the Asos Bridal range is our favourite but you don't need to be getting married to wear it!

Wilde plays former model and Warhol groupie Devon in the 1970s drama and certainly brought the wild era to life as she stripped off to pose for a life drawing.

The star showed off her amazing figure in all its glory in the hit new HBO series.

In the first episode, Olivia had to strip down for a sex scene with co-star Bobby Cannavale, who plays her on-screen husband Richie Finestra.

However, she wasn't completely in the buff - the actress has revealed that she was wearing a merkin for the show.

Speaking to Howard Stern, she explained: 'At the point that you meet us it's 1973.

'We're living in the suburbs; it's very sad. I love my husband [Cannavale] … but I hate our life, so I'm reflecting on my old life as a factory girl [with Andy Warhol].

'I'm pretty clean... (but I felt) less naked. You're wearing a little fur bikini... I was walking around to the whole crew going, "Look at this!"'

Although the show is some of raciest work to date, Wilde has never been scared to strip off in the name of art.

She has previously appeared in several stages of undress in films such as Alpha Dogs and Cowboys and Aliens.

She is engaged to comic Jason Sudeikis, the father of her son Otis.
