Designer perfume in exchange for a tweet? New Marc Jacobs pop-up will accept social media posts instead of money

A new Marc Jacobs pop-up shop will accept Twitter and Instagram posts instead of money.

Social media dispatches tagged #MJDaisyChain will be used as ‘social currency’ to buy fragrance and small accessories at the boutique, which has been called the ‘Marc Jacobs Pop-up Tweetshop’.

The boutique will open in New York’s SoHo neighborhood next weekend.

A representative for Marc Jacobs told MailOnline that shoppers will be able to exchange each tweet, Instagram post, or Facebook update for a single item.

Shoppers who dispatch the most creative posts will be entered to win larger-ticket fashion and accessory items throughout the day.

The shop will be open during New York Fashion Week from February 7 to 9.

In addition to solely offering social media exchange, the shop will provide shop-goers with a Daisy photo booth, food, drinks, and a free Wi-Fi ‘lounge’- presumably where fashion editors can rest their heels in-between the weekend’s shows.

Marc Jacobs first released its Daisy fragrance in 2007 as a youthful addition to its growing fragrance portfolio.

The scent, which features notes of Gardenia, violet, jasmine, vanilla and strawberry, has since spawned a spin-off line called Daisy eau So Fresh.

It is the best-selling fragrance in Marc Jacobs's entire beauty range, which was expanded this past summer to include a full line of color cosmetics.
