Wembley has paid an emotional tribute to Johan Cruyff with England and Holland fans rising as one to remember the Dutch legend in the 14th minute of Tuesday's international friendly. In the hours leading up to kick-off at the home of English football, an image of the Barcelona icon was beamed on two big screens on either side of a tribute stating: 'Johan Cruyff 1947-2016'. Cruyff, who represented Holland 48 times as well as starring for Ajax and Barcelona during a glittering career, passed away last Thursday after his battle with cancer.

Eva Carneiro was back in a football stadium on Tuesday night as the former Chelsea doctor took in Gibraltar's 5-0 defeat by Latvia. Gibraltar-born Carneiro was a guest of her hometown's Football Association for the international friendly at the 5,000-seat Victoria Stadium. She remains locked in an employment tribunal with Chelsea and their former manager Jose Mourinho having failed to reach an agreement over personal damages following her departure from the club last year.

Real Madrid first-team stars Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric received a motivational visit from club legend Raul ahead of their La Liga clash with rivals Barcelona. Raul, who is Real Madrid's record appearance holder with 741 first-team appearances to his name, returned to his former stomping ground in his role as La Liga ambassador on Tuesday afternoon. The former Spain international was unable to meet Cristiano Ronaldo, who has overtaken him as the club's record goalscorer, and several other international stars as they are away with their respective countries.

Manchester City received a boost heading into a key period of games, with both Kevin De Bruyne and Samir Nasri expected to be available for selection against Bournemouth on Saturday.  City were stripped of several key players during the international break, but it was business as usual for Manuel Pellegrini on Tuesday as he prepared those left behind for a pivotal few weeks ahead. They saw their Premier League dreams go up in smoke after a third home defeat in four league games against Manchester United, but with the side set to face Paris Saint-Germain twice in the next fortnight, Pellegrini is determined to end his reign on a high.

Barcelona's first-team stars paid their respects to club legend Johan Cruyff on Tuesday morning by holding a minute of silence and attending his memorial at the Nou Camp. Neymar, Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique were among those who paused for a moment of reflection prior to their training session at Ciutat Esportiva, five days after Cruyff's untimely death following a battle with lung cancer. The players, led by manager Luis Enrique, then visited a special condolence area inside the famous stadium in which Cruyff dazzled crowds as a player between 1973 and 1978.

The Scottish tennis star, 28, served up the little-known fact that women's tennis balls are different to the ones used by males (pictured). Murray claimed he was given the female equipment on Saturday at the Miami Open by an unsuspecting ballboy. However, he still went on to win the match against Denis Instomin.
