Just hours before his arrival at a church service on Easter Sunday with the Kardashian family Lamar Odom was buying alcohol in a Los Angeles bar.

The former basket ball ace, 36 - who was hospitalized in October following an overdose in a Nevada brothel - was seen at Johnny O'Brien's pub in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood of Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, the former LA Lakers player bought multiple glasses of brandy. The sports star is reported to have arrived at the establishment just before midnight on Saturday with two male friends. He didn't leave until around 1:00 am on Sunday.

TMZ added on Tuesday that those in Lamar's inner circle are worried because the former athlete thinks he can 'drink whenever he wants.' The source also commented that he is heading down a 'dark path' once more.

'He believes he can "casually drink" without any consequences,' added the source.

And his drinking is causing 'tension' with Khloe, who has been by his side nonstop since his meltdown last year: 'Although she's publicly vowed to help him recover, she disagrees with his choice to start drinking,' said the friend.

And the only reason he went to church on Sunday was to prove to the 31-year-old E! siren that he can drink and still get up the next day and do fine.

No wonder he was seen carrying an extra large Starbucks coffee when he headed to the Sunday services.

'We all are really, really sad he's decided to do this,' added the source.

The former Olympian -  who has been nursed back to health in recent months by estranged wife Khloe Kardashian - was accompanied on his trip by two unidentified male friends

The website - which has pictures of the star in the bar - goes on to report 'staffers confirmed Odom ordered three Remy Martin drinks and paid for them himself,' during his time in the pub.

Close and cozy: Lamar held onto Mason's hand as ex Khloe followed closely behind

And following the news that Lamar had frequented the bar, Khloe appeared to make her concerns for his behaviour vocal on social media.

Taking to her Twitter account, she simply wrote: 'I hate this feeling.... Helpless [sic]/' 

She then followed her own tweet with several re-tweets from the account of Evangelical preacher, Joel Osteen.

The tweets appeared to concern the nature of faith in God and his ways, with the first reading: 'When something doesn’t work out your way, it doesn’t mean God has failed you. It means He’s planning something better.'

Concerned for him? Following the news that Lamar had frequented the bar, Khloe appeared to make her concerns for his behaviour vocal on social media.

A second was more succinct, stating: 'When you have faith despite how the situation looks, God will move heaven and earth to do what He promised.' 

Lamar's visit to the watering hole in Los Angeles came just hours before Lamar attended an Easter Sunday service in Agoura Hills, which was led by the family's pastor, Brad Johnson - who officiated at Khloe and Lamar's 2009 wedding ceremony. 

Arriving alongside Khloe, 31, Lamar and his ex stayed close to one another as they guided nephew Mason into the church.

Lamar's visit to the bar may concern some fans of the former sports star, as it was only on October 13 that he was given a 50/50 chance of recovering from an overdose at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada.

The star was found in a comatose state in his room by staff following a four day bender where he romped with two prostitutes whilst also taking various substances.

After he was discovered Lamar was rushed to the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas before being transferred to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

The former L.A. Lakers star was unconscious for three days after suffering multiple strokes, and had been given a 50/50 chance of survival at one point following his binge on opiates and cocaine.

However on the third day the basket ball star was reported to have woken up with Khloe next to him, to whom he said, 'Hey Baby'.

He then spent the next three months in a rehab centre close to Khloe's home in Calabasas.  

Speaking to People at the time, an insider said that Khloe and her family were hopeful of his stint at the centre.

The source said: 'At the center, Lamar will continue to receive amazing therapy. He still has many challenges but is making progress. 'He is a fighter!'
