UFC star Jon Jones brands police officer 'a f****** liar' and 'a pig' after former champion is accused of drag racing

Jon Jones branded a police officer 'a f****** liar’ and 'a pig’ during a heated argument after the former UFC light-heavyweight champion was pulled over last week.

Having been accused of drag racing in his white Corvette, Jones insisted he had simply revved his engine while stopped at traffic lights.

The incident is the latest in a string of run-ins with the police after Jones was sentenced to 18 months probation last year after pleading guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of a hit-and-run.

He was also ordered to carry out 72 appearances involving charity work and speaking to children.

And last month, Jones was charged with driving without a license, proof of registration or insurance after being pulled over on January 31.

He was warned by the judge not to get another ticket for 90 days.

Jones claims his latest run-in with the authorities came when he was driving home after eating dinner with his team-mates.

While stationary at a red light, he revved his engine in response to fans who had drawn alongside him.

But upon driving off, he was soon pulled over.

In a video released by the Albuquerque Police, Jones is asked why he was drag racing and driving at speed.

But Jones replied: ‘I cannot wait for you to prove I was drag racing because I know for a fact I wasn’t.

‘You and I both know that I was not drag racing.

‘You are an absolute f****** liar.

‘How do you sleep with yourself, harassing me like this? You’re despicable.’

The officer retorted: ‘The feeling’s mutual.’

Jones was given five tickets; for drag racing, vehicle nuisance, vehicle modification or loud exhaust, driving outside his lane and for having an illegible license plate and will appear in court on April 5.

He continued: ‘I’m going to call my lawyer. F****** liar, I can’t believe it.

‘You’re f****** with me for no reason. You’re f****** picking this Corvette out for no reason. Blaming me for all this s*** that you know isn’t true.

‘You pig, you disgust me.’

Jones beat Cormier last year but was later stripped of his light-heavyweight title by the UFC

On Monday, Jones told the MMA Hour: ‘I definitely wasn't drag racing.

‘I got emotional and said some things that I probably shouldn't have said to a police officer.

‘I just think this officer in particular was looking for a DWI or something. He was trying to stick with me one of those and once he realised I was sober, I don't know if he was in a bad mood or whatever, but he was definitely confrontational.

‘He needed something to justify pulling me over. He fabricated the whole thing that I was drag racing.’

Jones is due to challenge for his old title against current champion Daniel Cormier in Las Vegas on April 23.

The pair met in January last year with Jones winning a unanimous decision.

He was then stripped of his title after the hit-and-run incident before Cormier won the vacant belt with victory over Anthony Johnson.
