As we recently reported, Jurassic World is continuing to break records in the box office, and has now become the fast film to cross $1 billion dollars worldwide!

Two days ago Variety reported that the film is predicted to cross $1 billion, and today that became a reality.

The Colin Trevorrow-directed Jurassic Park sequel achieved the feat in less than two weeks, gobbling box office records previously held by Marvel’s The Avengers along the way. It took The Avengers 14 days to hit $1 billion, while Jurassic World reached it in just 10. 

Despite competition from Pixar’s Inside Out, Jurassic World was still king of the box office during its second weekend in theaters. Though this weekend’s numbers aren’t final, estimates track Jurassic World’s domestic totals above $400 million and foreign totals at 583.1 million. 

The film has beaten predictions by more than double and has broken a total of 13 records in both the domenstic and international box office markets. Here is a list of the current records that the Jurassic sequel holds:

• Fastest film to $200 million

• Universal’s highest-grossing international weekend
  (Previous record” “Furious 7″ with $250.4 million)
• Universal’s highest-grossing North American weekend

Pee that attracts a Spinosaurus....how f*****g stupid! JP3 will always be the shit stain of the JP movies.

Adrian, I know everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I respect yours, but you talk about "things in this movie surpassing stupidity" after having watched JP3? Honestly? A boy surviving two months alone in Sorna without food? A dinosaur eating a man with a phone and people hearing the phone ring in his stomach miles away? People later retrieving the very phone from the dino's crap and it still working? The very lame excuse for making a JP sequel: let's throw a boy in the island and send people to rescue him... Anyway, JW is not perfect. But, to me, it's the best sequel of the three. By far.

I still cannot believe this. I love the JP universe, but this movie was not what I expected. It's beyond me how much praise this piece of crap is getting. Some much things in this movie surpassed stupidity. This is JP for the new generation, I totally get it. It could have been so much better :(

That said, I'm very concerned with where the JP movies are headed. I have no doubt that we will get the human DNA spliced with dinosaur DNA soldiers.

If that's the case, I hope JW is the last JP movie. Honestly, even though I'm one of the biggest JP fans. I've felt at times that maybe JP shouldn't have had any squeals.

I do hear you on a lot of what you said. JW is not perfect. In fact, I was hoping to love JW, but I only found it okay. Honestly, I did not feel anything nostalgic like I thought I would, even with the old Park scenes.

I really did not like the T-rex teaming up with the raptor at the end. That was lame. As for the kids, I didn't find them annoying like I did with the kids off TLW & JP3.

There are things about JW that are good and others that are just...no.

I really don't understand how can Jurassic World be a good movie. I think it's awful... nothing to do with the first two movies...

Bad screenplay, full of cliche, poorly developed charcaters, limp lines, dinosaurs look fake in many scenes, unnecessary scenes, bad guy motivations are just... seriously? who cares the kids' parents are divorcing? matches that light up magically after a plunge from a waterfall??? t-rex and velociraptor that wink to each other and ally? indominus rex made of all possible dna only to justify those absurd scenes (i. rex talking do velociraptors and giving them orders? are they animals or robots? nothing like that existed in the first film because they were just ANIMALS... i.e. a lion doesn't give orders to another lion just by roaring) and without giving at least one plausible explanation? many scenes were just a bad copy of those in the first film, designed for the nostalgic ...
