Ben Higgins, who starred in ABC's most recent season of The Bachelor, became trapped in an elevator during his first date night in Denver, Colorado, with his bride-to-be Lauren Bushnell this week.

Higgins confirmed the story on Twitter, in response to another Twitter user asking if the story was true.

'It is true, safe now but need a drink!' he wrote on Wednesday.

She said in the clip: 'Uh-oh! Honey?'

Higgins' voice said: 'Yeah?'

Bushnell replied: 'We're going to get you out of here, okay?'

One Twitter user asked Higgins why Bushnell was not also in the elevator.

Higgins tweeted Wednesday: 'Thought it would be nice if she stayed warm inside while I went and grabbed the car...'

In another tweet from that day, he wrote: 'Traumatizing! Ill never forget our first Denver date . @LaurenBushnell3 keeps laughing...'

Bushnell also tweeted about the incident, writing: 'Poor Benny.'

Higgins proposed to Bushnell in the season finale of The Bachelor.

He dumped runner-up JoJo Fletcher, who will star in ABC's new season of The Bachelorette, which is currently filming.
