But Sofia Richie seemed determined to carve out her own identity as she unveiled an edgy new hairstyle during a spot of shoe shopping at Saks Fifth Ave in Beverly Hills on Thursday.

The 17-year-old model looked every inch the budding fashionista as she showed off the quirky blue dip-dye on the ends of her platinum locks for the relaxed day out.

Sofia rocked the edgy hairstyle with panache, going for a sports-luxe ensemble with pinstripe joggers and a black sweater.

The teen elevated the look with a pair of white flatform trainers and accessorized with a dusky pink baseball cap and cat-eye sunglasses.

She appeared to go make-up free as she tried on a selection of ankle boots at an exclusive shoe shop.

The young model was a far cry from her image last September where she sported a tan and glossy brunette locks.

Sofia Richie is seriously heading her way to become the next It-girl. Just like her older sister Nicole, Sofia is all about fashion.

She's spotted at Saks, shoe shopping natch, wearing a baseball inspired outfit. Of course it's got a luxurious design spin to it. From the baseball cap down to her Stella McCartney wool striped joggers, she's showing off a sport look for sure.

Sports luxe is a trend that isn't going away. From Victoria Beckham in Stan Smith trainers to Rihanna's collaboration with PUMA, everyone is jumping on gym wear as street style. Stella McCartney has a collab with Adidas as well.

Sofia recently opened up about her 34-year-old sister Nicole Richie's words of wisdom to her.

She told the Evening Standard magazine: 'People look at me thinking, "Oh, you are probably going to go through the same thing." (Nicole) says, "Don't let people pressure you to do what they think is cool, like taking drugs. Be true to yourself."'

When Sofia was growing up, Nicole would always take her out and let her younger sister do things their dad wouldn't let her.

She added: 'Nicole was crazy and fun. She would take me to places I wasn't supposed to go to, like fairs, and she would let me have foods that I wasn't allowed to eat, like cotton candy.'

The up-and-comer's parents are singer Lionel Richie and his second wife Diane Alexander. Nicole was adopted by the All Night Long hitmaker and first spouse Brenda.

Sofia - who also has an older brother Miles, 21 - admits she has learned so much from her music legend dad Lionel, 66.

The budding fashion star doesn't think she would have the drive to succeed on the catwalk if it wasn't for the Hello singer.

Sofia said: 'There are parents with wealth who just want their kids to be wealthy and then there are other parents with money who want to teach their kids how they got it. That's what my dad was like.

'He grew up in a small house and they didn't have much, so he is like, "You guys are way more blessed than I was." We go back to Alabama all the time. He still has the same house that he grew up in.'

Meanwhile Sofia has revealed what she might have been shopping for as she shared an Instagram post rocking round-eye sunglasses in a car with the caption: 'Getting excited for Coachella' on Thursday.

In another image she sat atop a suitcase staring sultrily away while rocking Puma trainers and skinny jeans.

Yet another shot shared with her 865,000 followers on Tuesday showed the young star with her blonde tresses scraped back in a ponytail, apparently to obscure whether the ends were dyed blue or not.
