A chilling new discovery has been made at the ancient archaeological site of Palmyra with Syrian troops uncovering a shocking mass grave containing dozens of bodies including children. The bodies of 42 civilians and soldiers executed by ISIS were found close to the city, a military source confirmed. The victims were officers, soldiers, members of the 'popular committees (pro-regime militia)' and their relatives, according to AFP. 24 of the victims were civilians, including three children.

An LA father shot and killed his son in an act of premeditated murder because of the youth's sexual orientation, prosecutors alleged Friday. Shehada Khalil Issa, 69, right, was arrested Tuesday after police arrived at his North Hills home to find the bodies of his son Amir, 29, left, and his wife, who has not been named, dead. The Los Angeles County district attorney's office claimed that Issa had threatened to kill his son in the past because of his sexual orientation.

Frisco, Texas has been shocked by the death of local mom Christine Thi Woo (pictured), who was found dead in her car Thursday after going missing for three days. Her body was found alongside her three still-children who were severely dehydrated. She vanished on Monday, along with her children Lauren Woo, 5, Nathan Woo, 3, and Leah Woo, 1. Her husband Brandon said she had disappeared on an ordinary day and described her as a 'rock' and a 'lioness'. But locals who knew the woman say she seemed 'overwhelmed' and 'depressed'.

The release by Kremlin-friendly television channel NTV is apparently aimed at destroying one of the few opposition leaders seen as remotely capable of being an alternative president to Putin. But it also attacks and humiliates UK citizen Pelevine who has been a constant critic of the Russian leadership, especially over its actions in Chechnya and lack of democracy. Who was behind the filming is unclear, but the purpose was evidently to embarrass the opposition figures who are also heard savaging other so-called allies in an anti-Putin front ahead of upcoming elections.

An Arab-American family are furious at United Airlines after its staff removed them from a flight in an incident that they claim was 'profiling' and 'discrimination at its finest.' On March 20 Eaman-Amy Saad Shebley and her children were asked to leave a Spring Break flight from Chicago to Washington, DC by air crew in what was described by them at the time as a 'safety of flight' issue. In videos posted on Facebook, Shebley claimed that the air crew were 'profiling my family and me for no reason other than how we look.' United Airlines has denied the claims.

Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Lynne Curtin's (inset) daughter has accused a Sheriff's Deputy of raping her following a routine traffic stop, according to a bombshell lawsuit obtained by Daily Mail Online. Alexa Curtin, pictured top, claims the deputy with the Orange County Sheriff's Department sexually assaulted her in April, 2014 when she was a 21-year-old. Curtin - who has waived her right to anonymity to encourage any other alleged victims of the police officer to come forward - claims she was pulled over shortly after leaving her boyfriend's house in Dana Point, California. She says she was made to wait in her car and when the officer returned in plain clothes. Alexa says she feared for her safety and did not put up a fight when the deputy groped her and digitally penetrated her. Then he raped her, pulled up his pants and asked for her phone number.

A doomed bull's break for freedom on Friday morning was rewarded when it was rescued by former Daily Show host Jon Stewart, pictured inset - but not before it had run wild in a Queens university campus. The 2,000-pound bull escaped from a truck outside the Archer Halal Live Poultry slaughterhouse on Archer Avenue in Queens, the New York Daily News reported. It looks as though they have formed a friendship built to last. A tiny baby from Canada and his bedside buddy have been captured in a series of heart-melting photographs. Mom Elizabeth Spence took the photographs of her baby boy and the family's pet dog called Nora before posting them to Instagram. Elizabeth explained that Nora came from a rescue shelter seven years ago, and that despite her previous abusive home, she has a sweet and gentle nature.

Only the tops of the tallest skyscrapers in Shanghai, China were visible to the naked eye yesterday after a thick fog, caused by high levels of humidity, descended on the city and blanketed the buildings. The images of the Pudong skyscrapers (left) captured just half of the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in the country, which stands at more than 2,000 feet. A Melbourne photographer has added nine tonnes of sand to a dilapidated house and transformed it into an eerie desert.  Emma McEvoy captured the stunning pictures to reflect her experience in the southern Namibian town of Kolmanskop, once home to hundreds of German miners desperately seeking their fortune in the Namibian desert. But almost 100 years after Kolmanskop peaked as a thriving and bustling oasis, it is now a dilapidated ghost town slowly being reclaimed by the sand.

High schoolers in Tennessee were forced this week to walk in deep water. Incredible footage posted to Facebook Thursday by Bo Franklin showed students at Millington Central High School in flood waters that appeared to be several feet deep in parts. There was 2.9 inches of rain in 30 minutes, Millington city crews told local media. Water was reportedly 2-3 feet high in places.

Images posted to Chinese Twitter site Weibo on Friday of the unnamed Air China pilot inside the cockpit went viral, attracting a flood of both support and controversy. Thousands of online fans praised the 'handsome' pilot but others slammed him over his flagrant disregard of his passenger's safety.
