They were one of the biggest boy bands in the nineties.

And as Boyzone prepare to mark their 25th anniversary in 2018, Ronan Keating has teased fans that the group might be heading for a reunion tour.

The Irish crooner, who was one of four original members of the band, confessed he wants to mark the special occasion in style.

Speaking at Sydney's Randwick Racecourse on Saturday afternoon, the 39-year-old said: ‘We'll probably mark it somehow. I think a tour would be the right thing to do.’

Other possibilities could include a new album, but Keating agrees the reunion should hark back to some of the group's classics.

‘It's going to be about nostalgia, it's not going to be about new music really,’ he added.

Boyzone reunited in 2008 for a highly successful world tour and released a greatest hits album with two new singles.

Shortly after the reunion, band member Stephen Gately died, devastating the group and their huge fan base.

In 2010, Boyzone - also consisting of Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch - released a new album, called Brother, which became a tribute album to Gately.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Boyzone star Keith has joined forces with Westlife’s Brian McFadden for a two-man nationwide tour, aptly named Boyzlife.

The former pop stars are spearheading the venture and revealed it 'has no limits' as they shared their plans to tour together later this year.

Although, Ronan isn’t a part of the new venture, The Voice Australia coach wished the pair well during a recent appearance on ITV’s This Morning.

‘The lads have created this show,’ he said. ‘It's kind of a stand-up thing, comedy with a couple of songs in it and telling stories. I think it's sold out already. The lads are doing great.'

Elsewhere, Ronan has been focusing on his solo efforts, releasing his new album, Time Of My Life, which he said was inspired by his new wife, Storm Uechtritz, who he married in August last year.
