Will my foot surgery require hospitalization?

Surgery is typically an outpatient procedure and does not require hospitalization. Surgery is performed under local anesthesia or light sedation administered by a trained anesthesia specialist. We’ll discuss your unique needs and create a post-operative plan that will have you back on your feet as soon as possible.

What steps can I take for a quick recovery?

We recommend that all patients practice the RICE method. Rest, ice, compression and elevation all promote healing, reduce pain and help control swelling. Your recovery will be made quicker by closing following the advice of your podiatrist.

What do I wear on my foot after surgery?

Every surgery requires some type of immobilizing cast, bandage or surgical shoe. Sometimes you just need to wear open-toed sandals during recovery. Proper foot support ensures speedy recovery and the prevention of future problems. Once you’ve had enough time to heal you can go back to wearing your usual footwear.

Will I need special care after foot surgery?

Often patients need postoperative care like physiotherapy, orthotics or the special footwear mentioned above. These steps help guarantee the effectiveness of the surgery and a quick recovery.
