Downsizing! Matt Damon is seen on set as he gears up for his new adventure movie with Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis

Fans went into meltdown at the Superbowl when the teaser trailer for Jason Bourne aired.

However, first there's another film in the works for Matt Damon - Downsizing.

And the Boston-born actor was in good spirits as he was spotted coming out of his trailer in Palmdale where he is currently shooting the film.

Matt looked laid back and casual as he was sporting a pair of blue jeans and a dark grey polo T-shirt.

Downsizing follows the story of a man from Omaha who realizes he would have a better life if he were to shrink himself. He rejects society and joins a bite-sized, microcosm community - where its residents are shrunk to a 'tiny fraction of their size'. 

The film, directed by Alexander Payne, also features the likes of Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz, Jason Sudeikis, Alec Baldwin and Neil Patrick Harris.

Kristen and the 45-year-old actor shared the big screen together in the Oscar winning movie, The Martian, so fans will no doubt be excited to see the duo reunited for another adventure film.

The USA release date is 25 December 2017 but if fans can't wait until then, they'll be able to see Damon in action this summer reprising his role as Jason Bourne.

The first teaser trailer for Jason Bourne aired during the Super Bowl earlier in February and now the genius behind this legendary franchise has spoken out about Damon in the fourth installment in the Bourne movies. 

The highly anticipated movie, directed by Paul Greengrass has attracted many questions from fans. For example, what on earth has Jason been up to for the past decade. 

Greengrass spoke with Entertainment Weekly and teased: 'He’s been in the shadows of Europe'.

The award-winning director has remained tight-lipped about giving away any more information. However he did add: 'He’s been active and he’s been doing hard physical work'.

The fact that Matt Damon turned up on the first day looking absolutely stacked was pretty much the deciding factor for the team going ahead with the fourth film.

The 60-year-old director said: 'It gave all of us the most immense shock, because you think "Oh my god. This is weird.This is Jason Bourne, and he’s back. That’s sort of exciting" '. 

The stellar line up for this upcoming action thriller also includes Academy Award winners Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones and also Silver Linings Playbook actress Julia Stiles.

Matt Damon has a busy year ahead as he also has a film called The Great Wall in post-production. It is a mystery centered around the construction of the Great Wall of China where he will play opposite Willem Dafoe.

He also has another project that's in pre-production, Suburbicon, which is due to be released in 2017.

Suburicon is a crime mystery set in the 1950's in the quiet family town of the same name. When a home invasion turns deadly, a picture-perfect family turns to blackmail, revenge and betrayal.
