Four rare gray wolves have been shot dead in Oregon after they repeatedly attacked livestock, killing cattle and sheep. The wolf pack, led by an alpha male known as OR-4 (pictured), was shot dead by state officials who hovered above them in a helicopter before firing the fatal shots. OR-4 was 10 years old - considered elderly for a gray wolf - and is believed to have been preying on livestock because he was no longer able to successfully hunt wild animals, such as elk. There are just 110 wolves left in Oregon, according to official figures, but numbers have been increasing over the last few years. Approximately 1,800 wolves live in the north west of the United States, excluding Alaska.

However, instead of helping their pal out of the vehicle the group stand around in hysterical fits of laughter and poke fun at him as his rage grows and grows (centre). After a couple of minutes of torment the man finally appears to see the funny side when he drops his head and says 'I hate my life' (right). It's hard not to feel sorry for the worker because with friends like these, who needs enemies.

The radio-controlled helicopter (pictured flying, main) not only has rotary blades, but also has a chainsaw attached to it. The three friends from Finland who made it have nicknamed the invention their 'killer drone', and used the test flight to hack at trees, icicles and snowmen. Video of the test-run shows the drone flying towards snowmen at speed (top left) and their heads instantly disappearing into a cloud of slush and ice (bottom left) as the saw hit them.
