So it was no surprise to see Rihanna, 28, rocking an unconventional ensemble as she stepped out to the Black Girls Rock! event in New Jersey on Friday.

The Barbadian beauty dressed in an baggy blue shirt, worn unbuttoned to reveal a glimpse of cleavage and her chest tattoo.

A large decorative cross necklace hung around her neck, drawing yet more attention to her cleavage, while a tighter gold necklace added a touch of glamour.

The singer paraded her pins in barely there white shorts and sauntered along the sidewalk in a pair of towering black stilettos adorned with pearls.

She held a bejewelled clutch in her hands which were decorated with a number of statement rings.

The star's raven tresses were neatly styled and held in place by an array of gold clips. She wore dark eye make-up with a pale lip to finish off her look.

Rihanna stepped out in her typical fashion, the unexpected. The singer wore a look hot off the Miu Miu Autumn/Winter 2016 runway consisting of an oversized men's shirt, white boker like shorts, a fur coat and jewel encrusted heels. It channels a wealthy woman who just rolled out of her man's bed look, and we couldn't love it more!

Although this look may be a bit inconvenient for your everyday wear, a large gingham button up is incredibly versatile. Wear it under overalls or tucked into jeans, the options are endless.

Rihanna looked at ease as she left her New York apartment and made her way to a waiting vehicle ready to whisk her to the star-studded event.

When she arrived on the red carpet she covered her ensemble with a lavish fur coat which ensured all eyes were firmly on her.

Friday evening's event, which was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, 43, was a partnership between BET and the non-profit Black Girls Rock! to honour the achievements of extraordinary women of colour.

The Diamonds singer wasn't just going as a guest either - Rihanna was recognised with the Rock Star Award.

Rihanna has been living the life of a true rock star as of late, as the songbird has been busy travelling through the US for her ANTI tour.

She will continue the tour through the US and Canada before the European leg begins in the Netherlands on June 17.

The 73 date ANTI World Tour will conclude at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, United Kingdom on 21 August.

She has also released a racy new video for her song Kiss It Better, in which she proudly flaunted her nipple ring.
