They only stood firm for a few minutes before police told them to leave for their own safety. As they left, the protesters chanted: 'Black power.' A large number of officers were on duty, fearing racial overtones of the rally would turn into violence.

Judge's outrage at suspect who 'robbed a 103-year-old woman of her food and money in her Bronx apartment building'

Cops arrested the heartless mugger who allegedly knocked a 103-year-old woman to the floor in her Bronx apartment building on Friday and stole a shopping cart with meals she had just gotten from a community center.

Sharon McNeil, 53, followed her victim into the elevator in the building on Bellamy Loop in Co-op City at about 2:30 p.m., cops said.

Once in the hallway, McNeil knocked the woman down and took off with her cart, which contained two meals she?d just gotten from a community center and her purse containing money, credit cards and her ID.

McNeil was arrested at 11 a.m. Saturday and charged with robbery, assault and harassment, cops said.

Her rap sheet includes 27 prior arrests, cops said. Her most recent was in 2013 for prostitution, also in the Bronx, according to officials.

A man, who Covington Police Department said stabbed his older brother five times following an argument over a video game, surrendered to the authorities Saturday (April 2) night.

Genard Washington, 28, of Abita Springs, stabbed his brother Brandon Washington, 32, of Covington, in front of the Covington Quick Stop at 1110 N. Columbia St. at 9 p.m. Friday, Police Chief Tim Lentz said.

Brandon Washington was then rushed to the St. Tammany Parish Hospital emergency room by his family, where he underwent emergency surgery and is now in critical, but stable condition, Lentz said.

The hospital staff alerted authorities about the stabbing once the elder Washington arrived there, Lentz said.

Genard Washington will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail for attempted second degree murder, Lentz said.
