MailOnline has contacted a representative of the deceased singer for comment.

The website alleges that  Jamie, Scott's third wife, signed a prenup with the singer before their wedding in 2013, which featured a clause that stated the singer would pay his wife £2,000 a month.

TMZ state that the document was 'cut and dry', stating 'what was his before the marriage remained his, and vice versa'.

And while the document supposedly waived Jamie's right to spousal support (alimony), it stated the monthly payments would be deposited into a separate account for her; and also included an annual 7 percent raise.

Speaking to Billboard in January, Jamie said: 'I think maybe I knew I was never going to see him again.

'We couldn't get enough of each other. It was very powerful.'

The singer, who had a string of number one albums under his belt,  had a chequered history with substance abuse.

Scott found himself in trouble in 1995 when he was arrested after being found carrying both crack and heroin by police, and in 1998 he pleaded guilty to felony heroin possession.

Meanwhile his arrests and stints in rehab led to the break-up of the Stone Temple Pilots in 2003, however, he would later go on to form supergroup Velvet Revolver with Guns 'N' Roses' Slash, Duff McKegan,  Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner ofWasted Youth
