Going make-up free, she kept warm with a simple black cardigan and wore a brown crossover body bag with tassels floating off it.

The mother-of-two also hid her eyes behind a pair of sunglasses and let her hair hang loose in a tousled style.

Her outing comes as she talked about the 'new direction' in her life after separating from the father of her two children.

Hours after confirming reports that her marriage to art consultant Will Kopelman had ended, the actress spoke at an event promoting her Barrymore Wines business.

'I had a really hard time a couple of months ago and kind of knew life was heading in a new direction,' she told PopSugar.

Drew and her third husband wed in 2012 and have two children - daughters Frankie, three and one-year-old Olive. News that their marriage had ended first broke late on Friday.

Drew said she sought advice from a close friend.

'I called someone that I really trust, respect, and believe in, because he has always been the conductor of grace. I said, "What's your advice?" And he said, "You put one foot in front of the other."

'I hung up the phone and I thought, "That is why I call this person." It's not only succinct, but it's almost physically productive and life-choice productive.

'It's just great advice. It's a kind of way in which to live, and I want to be like him. I want to be like that. I want to put one foot in front of the other.'

While she did not directly address her divorce during her interview with PopSugar, Drew opened up about her children, saying they needed her to be strong.

'She doesn't want the worry,' she said of oldest daughter Frankie. 'She needs to know it's going to be OK.

'It's the only way she will allow herself to be vulnerable. . . . She's mad when something hurts her. She doesn't go to a weak place. Every little girl can only be made to feel safe if they know the parent is solid.'

In a joint statement issued earlier on Saturday Drew and Will insisted that their daughters will remain their top priority.

'Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family,' they told People magazine.

'Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on.

'Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority.'

This will be a third divorce for Drew. The former child star first tied the knot aged just 19, but the marriage to bartender Jeremy Thomas in 1994 lasted less than two months.

Her second wedding, in 2001, to her Charlie’s Angels co-star Tom Green fell apart nearly as quickly and the pair split after five months.
