'Should we be nervous?' Jeff Goldblum and Liam Hemsworth suit up to fight off aliens in action-packed new teaser for Independence Day: Resurgence

Twenty years ago they were able to save the planet from a disastrous alien invasion.

However, in a new teaser for the upcoming sequel Independence Day: Resurgence, President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) and co. must brace themselves for an even bigger battle.

David Lenison (Jeff Goldblum) returns, and is seen teaming up with newcomer Jake Morrison (Liam Hemsworth) who somewhat naively asks: 'Should we be nervous?'

The video ominously begins with overhead shots of a cavalcade of vehicles as a voice shares: 'We found something out here.'

David then seems to be looking at the 'something' as he is seen showing off a disturbed look before uttering: 'Oh my gosh.'

Patricia Whitmore (new addition Maika Monroe, played in the original by Mae Whitman) then desperately questions: 'Why are they screaming?' as you can hear the eerie sounds of alien beings.

The response is even more frightening as someone informs her: 'They're not screaming. They're celebrating.'

President Whitmore can then be seen in enclosed in a glass case as doors slowly open, while everyone else stands around, bearing witness.

Patricia, of course, is alarmed at the sight of her father in such a precarious position and runs up to the glass screaming, but to no avail.

Though the room is at first filled with smoke, a large alien tentacle suddenly appears, tightly gripping President Whitmore before he says in an eerie, mechanical voice: 'She has arrived.'

Troubling: However, she stands corrected as she's told: 'They're not screaming. They're celebrating'

It's at this point that Jake and David suit up as they look to be going on a mission together, where the former naively asks if they should be nervous.

David, adding a bit of comic relief to the teaser, is incredulous as he looks at him, before quipping: 'Uh, yeah!'

The 30-second teaser for the follow-up to 1996's Independence Day then ends with a glimpse at city-wide destruction.
