  • Virgin Atlantic surveyed 2,000 UK adults about pet peeves on an aeroplane
  • Smelly neighbour was the number one enemy for air travellers in results
  • Armrest stealing came next but people would give them up for celebrities

Every traveller has triggers that make sitting in a cramped seat of a plane even more unbearable.

But now a survey of 2,000 adults has revealed that having a smelly neighbour is the number one pet hate for UK adults - a sore spot for 31 per cent of respondents.

This was followed by 17 per cent of people annoyed by those who hog the arm rest - unless their neighbour was Johnny Depp or Adele.

Johnny Depp was the celebrity that most people would give up their armrest for. He was followed by Leo DiCaprio and Ryan Reynolds

In fact, 70 per cent of people believe that they should settle the issue independently instead of involving the air stewards.
