Making a splash! Live version of Disney's The Little Mermaid, starring Sara Bareilles as Ariel, swims to a Hollywood Bowl berth
It's one of Disney's most beloved stories, both as an animated film and as a Broadway musical.
Now the two genres will combine when Grammy winner Sara Bareilles plays Ariel in The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl on June 4, according to Billboard on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old leads a star-studded cast including Pitch Perfect actress Rebel Wilson, 36, as Ursula, the sea witch; Full House star John Stamos, 52, as Chef Louis; Broadway stalwart Tituss Burgess, 37, as Sebastian the Crab; and Glee alum Darren Criss, 29, as Prince Eric.

Sara seemed particularly excited about her role as Ariel, in which she will get to sing iconic number, Part Of Your World, which she has performed at her concerts.

'I might fall over. #littlegirldreamfantasy,' the singer tweeted.
She added in a statement: 'I’ve been pretending I was Ariel in swimming pools since I was a little girl, and now I get to pretend on a bigger stage. This is just fantastic.'
Meanwhile, Rebel tweeted:'Get ready for some LIVE mermaid dancing!! So excited to be performing Ursula at the Hollywood Bowl June 4th!'

Whether or not this ambitious production will go on tour has yet to be seen.
