Just a $25m fixer-upper! Taylor Swift starts extensive renovations of her just purchased historic mansion

Whether she knew it was trouble when she walked in is not clear, but what is clear, is that this star does not settle when it comes to real estate.

Less than six months since handing over $25 million for a lavish historical Beverly Hills mansion, Taylor Swift has started the process of bringing it up to her tastes and into the 21st Century.

Originally built in 1934 by famed architect Douglas Honnold for film producer Samuel Goldwyn - aka the G in MGM, it seems after close to a 100 years of standing, it needed a bit of sprucing up.

This also explains while the home went on sale for $39 million but Variety reports Taylor paid $25 million to seal the deal - even though she initially denied buying the home.

Taylor's team has already started one of the most mammoth task of making this multi-million dollar fixer-upper just right, replacing the roof.

Prior to the I Knew You Were Trouble star owning the place - Samuel's late son, Samuel Goldwyn Jr, had lived there after his dad - the home featured a green tiled roof which complemented the home's white external colour scheme.

But on Tuesday as an eagle eye photographer flew over top, the roof had been removed and the home was now cloaked in giant blue tarpaulins.

No mean - or cheap - feat considering the main house is 11,000-square-foot with six bedrooms.

Whether her mansion had sprung a leak or its tile work was starting to show its age was not clear.

There was also a large garbage skip filled with old building materials, suggesting some parts inside the home were also getting a face-lift.

Hopefully any changes will be minor or at least restorative, with the home filled with Hollywood history because the big stars of the silver screen often stopping by to visit its former owners including Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable and Marlene Dietrich.

Inside the mansion there is also a library, a card room and a private movie theatre where the Goldwyns would oversee the films they financed.

Outside is also very impressive with the home situated on two acres which is almost unheard of for the celeb-studded area.

It understood the home will be for the singer to share with her beau DJ Calvin Harris.

Room for two: There is plenty of space for the singer and her DJ beau Calvin Harris (pictured Sunday) to cohabitate once the renovation is finished
