Billy Ray Cyrus plays washed-up country star in hilarious new trailer for upcoming CMT show Still The King

He was originally famous for his country music career.

And it seems like Billy Ray Cyrus is returning to his roots, as he'll be starring in a new television comedy called Still The King, which will air on cable station Country Music Television.

The 54-year-old father of Miley Cyrus will play the lead, Vernon Brown, a burned-out former country music superstar.

After driving a bread truck into a church and fleeing police, the degenerate Vernon reports for his sentencing, only to find out that he owes child support for a fifteen-year-old daughter named Charlotte he never knew about.

While he does want to see his only progeny, played by Madison Iseman, his daughter's mother refuses to let Vernon see her without paying the child support he owes.

Once he makes his first payment he's granted his first visitation, though things turn sour as it soon becomes clear Charlotte is uninterested in having a relationship with him.

After trying to entertain her with some donuts in his convertible and a slingshot competition, he begins to realize he's in over his head.

'I don't know what the heck to do with a 15-year-old girl,' he laments, right before he receives an interesting call from his agent regarding a new gig.

While he's intermittently acted in several projects, such as 90210 and Sharknado 2, Billy Ray is obviously best known for playing the fictional father of Miley Stewart, played by his real life daughter Miley Cyrus, in the hit series Hannah Montana.

Still The King premieres on June 12 on CMT.
