She announced her engagement to boyfriend James Heerdegen last month.

But on Saturday, Christina Ricci's man was sidelined by a smurf, as she walked the red carpet by the side of a life-sized blue-haired creature called Vexy: the character Christina voiced in Smurfs 2.

The 33-year-old actress looked demure as she attended the Tribeca Film Festival Family Festival in New York, for a screening of the upcoming movie.

The actress looked to be channeling her Pan Am persona as she sported a somewhat 1960's-inspired outfit and hairstyle.

Christina wore a black and white patterned shift dress by Oscar de la Renta, which was belted around the waist.

Her luminous red lipstick matched her red Christian Louboutin heels, and she had her tresses styled into neat, sculptured curls.

Christina was noticeably radiant and in good spirits - she beamed as she snuggled up with her smurf buddies for photos.

The Black Snake Moan star of course flashed her diamond engagement ring.

Christina and her dolly grip fiance James met on set of ABC series Pan Am in 2012, which was cancelled after one season.

The enigmatic brunette star has been hard at work lately, having just completed filming Mother's Day, a relationship drama.

Christina is now in talks to star in the White Noise director Geoffrey Sax's next movie, indie thriller Unmasked, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Smurfs 2 is set for release on July 31, with the rest of the star-studded voice-cast including Neil Patrick Harris, Katy Perry, Fred Armisen and Sofia Vergara.
